OUR WINES

Albugnano Doc Superiore

Albugnano DOC Superiore is produced on marine limestone soils from carefully selected Nebbiolo grapes coming from the estate vineyards. Its bouquet offers notes of fresh fruit, alternating with menthol, while in the background are hints of sweet spiciness. Our wine bears the label of “Albugnano 549” Winemakers Association, a group project founded in 2017 with the aim of promoting Albugnano DOC and its region, in which we immediately became involved with enthusiasm and dedication.

THE VINEYARDS

The nine hectares of vineyards in one single formation, at an altitude of around 300 metres above sea level, form an impressive amphitheatre surrounding the buildings of Tenuta Tamburnin. They rest on ferrous-clay soils with the presence of red clays.
The grape varieties from which the wines of Tenuta Tamburnin are brought to life are typical of the territory (Freisa and Malvasia, Bonarda, Barbera and Nebbiolo). Some international varieties (Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Merlot) were introduced on a small area in order to complete the range of the vineyard’s production.

The vine training system used is espalier with Guyot pruning in which 6-7 buds are left, and the harvest is manual.
Some of the vines at the winery are more than 40 years old, while others are recent. The cultivation methods used provide very limited yields which offer undoubted benefits to the quality of the wine production. No pesticides are used in the vineyards.

Since 2020 the winery has been classified as organic, pursuant to Article 29, par. 1 of EU Regulation no. 834/2007.
